What Your Rechargeable Hearing Aid Batteries Need in an Emergency

Everyone needs to be prepared, specifically when you have rechargeable hearing aids. No one wants to be caught off guard during a power outage.

The timing couldn’t be worse. Being in storms, flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes, or widespread fires, you could have no power until recovery begins. That could be in a couple of hours or many days later.

Yet, when that annoying bell sound arrives, it rings in your ears from your hearing aids, letting you know it’s time. And you know you’re down to the minutes.

Your hearing aid batteries are about to end in a matter of moments. No more power is left to squeeze from the battery.

Sometimes, the battery’s power magically reappears the next day after being left unattended. But this time, you know it’s different. It would be best if you charged your hearing aid right now.

It’s the one time that you might regret owning a rechargeable hearing aids. Suppose you could only swap the hearing aid batteries for a new one. But with your rechargeable hearing aids, you’re stuck with the same battery for the life of the hearing aids.

You don’t even own a backup pair. It’s been a while.

You thought about venturing out to the community center that’s open during the emergency to charge your smartphone and hearing aids. Still, you don’t want to risk leaving the house or hanging around a room full of strangers without hearing a thing for three hours.

That’s why it’s essential to have backup power handy. Not only can you charge all your electronic devices, including your smartphones.

Backup power is excellent when you can’t access a nearby plug outlet.

Get the right power station

Most rechargeable hearing aids come with a charging case. The charging case uses a cable to plug into the electric wall.

Typically the hearing aid charging case has a plug compatible with USB 2.0. But at the very least, you should have an electric plug. You want to look for power stations that include a plug.

Double-check that you’re not supplying too much power to your hearing aid device case. It starts to heat up and damage your case. Always check to see that you are using the same power supply as your home plugs when using the power station.
